Layering nude tones is similar to layering black. It’s about shapes. Because there’s no print for playfulness, the fun is in mixing different angles to create an interesting form. The cross-body gathering of this simple blouse is an appealing contrast to the vertical ruffle shape of the petticoat-inspired skirt. But, unlike black, layering nude tones is specific to skin tone. I have naturally pale skin, so a blush nude works best for me. A grey nude or brown-based tan easily washes me out, so be aware of how sickly you look when rocking an all-nude outfit. Although it may not be the most interesting color in the crayon box, I think a blush color is extremely chic. I choose to style my nudes with accessories in the same field of color, including my lipstick. And no, this look is not the best choice when hiking through thorny fields and gravel backwards sidewalks. Don’t try this at home.
