At the end of the day, it’s just you and your bed. A stylish bedroom is the perfect basis for a stylish life. By surrounding yourself with appealing colors and chic details, inspiration can flow from the bed, to the closet, and out the door. Here’s a look inside my humble abode where simplicity is key.
I’ve come up with a few essentials. Here’s my criteria for bedroom decor, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Sleep comes easier when stress is left at the door.
1. White on White. Duh, I love white fabric. With slight tone and texture changes, a white room isn’t bland. It is serene and tranquil. My wall color is actually a very light mint green, so the white bed and furniture pops in the room. Clean and refreshing tones also creates the illusion of a larger room.
2. Soft brings sleep. When it comes to bedding, I think it’s acceptable to splurge on a gorgeous shell and keep the inside as soft as possible. I’ve chosen Anthropologie Duvet Cover and Shams for extra soft snuggling, paired with FieldCrest Luxury blue printed sheets. I also use inexpensive throw pillows to add a little extra flare.
3. Simple sides. I love the balance of a nightstand on both sides of the bed, but I think it’s extremely important to keep these surfaces clean and simple. One side is a refurnished nightstand I’ve had for years: sanded, primed, painted white, with Anthropologie Bubbled Glass Knob in Mint. The other side is a pentagon-shaped table I found at the local flea market: painted blue, with glass shelves. I require a little light and a little smell on both sides: fresh flowers, a Hawaiian salt crystal lamp, an ocean-scented candle, a glass-detailed lamp, and an intricate incense holder. Besides these elements, I keep these surfaces free of clutter.
