Finding simple staples can sometimes be as boring as walking into a department store and picking out whatever pieces are draped on a sad mannequin. But, alas! Simple staples, although simple, need to be items that are treasured and adored. They are go-to pieces when the rest of your closet fails you, and when your choices are either cancel your plans and wear your pajamas for another 12 hours or throw on that great shirt you know always fits just right, staples come in handy. In my own mind, my staples consist of elegant maxi dresses, slouchy nightgowns, and sky-high heels. In reality, my staples are a great pullover shirt, a breezy pair of shorts, worn boots, a sturdy bag, aviator shades, and a statement piece of jewelry. Acquiring these pieces has actually been an international undertaking, so don’t settle when searching for whatever makes you feel right. Hunt. My trusty leather backpack may be from Ireland, but gosh darn it! My favorite boots are from Target. I’m not afraid to say where I’ve found the pieces that make me feel at ease.
