I promised to share photos of my post-graduation travels with my closest friends. So, tah dah! Two cars traveled as far south as we could handle and set up camp in the seascape resort in Florida, preparing for a week without obligations. Slaving for four years with your head in a book really builds up the yearning for a beach, and now that a graduation had occurred for some of us, it was time to let loose. There was a welcoming meal at the whale’s tail, the first sighting of a palm tree, and the reminder of how sand feels between toes. There were trips from the beach towel to the tiki bar and back, jellyfish stings and hermit crabs, epic sand art and a relatively small amount of sunburn for how long we spent on the beach. Skim boarding and skim failing, strong currents, and sandy bellybuttons. A crab feast at pompano Joe’s, smoked tuna dip, and entirely too many fruity frozen drinks. Phones were put away, computers were forgotten, and late nights were filled with more laughter, damage, and beach walks than any of us expected. Sometimes, a trip or a memory just reminds you how some souls are just meant to be together. Meant to drink together, laugh together, fall over each other, talk to each other, and remind each other how precious every moment really is. I’ve got great souls in my life.
