I spent today’s afternoon with the Rebel, running around Dragon Park, chasing squirrels and avoiding puddles. I’ve been finding Halloween costumes, making scrambled eggs, watching Scrubs, and giggling over dinner at McDougal’s Chicken.
Since Monday, I have been moving so slow that I drag my limbs behind me, pulling myself to the next class, the next meeting, the next meal. a wonderful catch up with the Porte-Plume at the lovely Cafe Coco, giggling about Rudolph’s King Moonracer, sipping chai tea, and stuffing our faces with grilled cheese sandwiches and cheesecake. Cheesemania, I know. What are sisters for? Despite her wishes to flee back to the city of blinding lights, I am really glad she’s home.
I spent Thursday night at Estes Park with the Rebel, trying to beat the sunset in order to record the interview for Maria at chicisimo.com. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s up. We listened to children squeaking Tonka trunks backward through sandboxes, dogs interrupting soccer games, and cars flying by, never noticing our tiny hideaway of serenity. A dinner of chicken and pasta salad at Bread & Co., an easy find and good comfort food. I stumbled across a furry caterpillar in my purse that joined us for the meal. We both knew he wanted our fruit tea so we released him to a nearby leaf that we hope could challenge his taste buds enough.
Since today is Halloween, be on your best behavior. Eat as much candy as physically possible, howl at the moon, run through the streets with fiery skulls in your eyes, and carve pumpkins like the sun is setting on your ghost self. I know I will. Make the best of your weekend or those who did that and more years before us will rise from their graves and kick your tush until you do.
